Hurricanes Forward to the Penguins
Michael Bunting has been linked to the Pittsburgh Penguins recently, with reason as the winger is tied with Penguins GM and former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas. As reported by Elliotte Friedman, the Hurricanes might be interested in shopping Bunting around as they received many calls early on in the season regarding the Canes Forward. In a quote by Elliotte Friedman, he mentions a potential reunion between Dubas and Bunting.
With the productive agitator already drifting down to the bottom six in the Hurricanes' lineup, teams have checked in on Carolina's plans for the left winger it signed to a hefty three-year, $13.5-million deal over the summer. Huge Downgrade for the Penguins?
It is not that big of a downgrade as it seems, Michael Bunting strives when playing with top linemates. In his first season with the Leafs, he was paired with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, two stars and he put up 63 points in 79 games. This production is impressive, and Bunting can add some versatility on a line with Bryan Rust and Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby.
